OUR TEAM
Joanie Jackson, FNP-C, and Stephen Jackson are the founders and owners of Freedom Integrative Wellness, a family-owned practice created from a shared belief that healthcare should be personal, thoughtful, and rooted in trust. Together, they lead the practice with a hands-on, values-driven approach—combining clinical excellence, operational integrity, and a deep commitment to patient-centered care. Their vision is to create a space where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered, and where the care provided addresses the whole person, not just symptoms.
OUR FOUNDERS
Joanie Jackson, FNP-C
Joanie Jackson, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Freedom Integrative Wellness. With almost 20 years of clinical experience spanning cardiac/progressive care, neurosurgical intensive care, primary care, and functional medicine, Joanie is passionate about helping patients navigate complex chronic illness through an evidence-informed, personalized approach.
After witnessing the limitations of conventional medicine alone, Joanie pursued advanced training in functional and integrative medicine to better serve patients seeking answers beyond symptom management. Today, her primary clinical focus is Integrative Oncology, where she partners with individuals before, during, and after cancer treatment to optimize health, improve quality of life, reduce treatment-related side effects, and support long-term outcomes.
Joanie has completed advanced Integrative Oncology training through the Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health, studying under internationally recognized integrative oncologist Dr. Nasha Winters. She has also earned certification in Mistletoe Therapy through the PAAM (Practitioners of Applied and Advanced Medicine) and completed advanced Ozone Therapy certification under renowned ozone medicine pioneer Dr. Frank Shallenberger. These specialized trainings allow her to thoughtfully integrate evidence-informed metabolic therapies, ozone therapy, and mistletoe protocols into individualized cancer care plans alongside conventional treatment.
Her clinical approach integrates nutrition, metabolic therapies, ozone therapy, mistletoe, targeted supplementation, hormone optimization, detoxification strategies, nervous system regulation, hyperthermia, and other emerging adjunctive therapies alongside conventional oncology care. Joanie believes patients deserve a collaborative healthcare team that addresses the whole person—not simply the diagnosis.
As a lifelong learner, she continues advanced education in the rapidly evolving field of metabolic and integrative oncology to bring innovative, research-informed therapies to her patients while maintaining the highest standards of compassionate, patient-centered care.
A Fort Mill native, Joanie is married to her high school sweetheart, Stephen, and together they have two children. Outside the clinic, she enjoys traveling, relaxing at the beach, spending time with family, and cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
